“I applied to hundreds of jobs last month and always got rejected.“
This is the single most heard feedback from most of the members of the Germany Is Calling community.
How can you improve the chances of finding a job in Germany? And, how to ensure that you are not wasting your efforts by applying to irrelevant jobs?
That’s when visa-sponsored jobs come into the picture.
A visa-sponsored job is the one where employer guarantees to take care of the visa expenses and relocation support for an employee if they get hired.
In short, if you apply to visa-sponsored jobs, you can be sure that the employer is open to hiring candidates from outside of Germany or the EU.
As an international candidate, your priority should be to optimize your job search in a way that you find as many visa-sponsored jobs as possible and apply to those regularly.
So, where can you find these special jobs?
Well, there are many platforms for this, but in this post, we will cover the top three platforms where you can find visa-sponsored jobs.
1. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is usually the Go-to platform for tech professionals especially when it comes to jobs abroad.
On LinkedIn job search, you can filter the results with the location criteria to see all the jobs relevant to your profile from Germany.
Later, you can look at the job description to identify if the employer is willing to sponsor the visa.
Just do a simple search (Cmd + F or Ctrl + F) on your browser and look for the term “visa” in each job description.
If you find a job description that says “visa sponsored”, or something similar, voila – you found a gem (e.g. adjoe in the screenshot above).
Go ahead and apply to this job if the job description matches your skillset.
Repeat this step for each job in the list and apply to as many jobs as you can daily.
2. GIC Job board
Germany Is Calling has a Jobs section where you can find visa-sponsored jobs sorted by your skillset and domain of expertise.
You do not have to search for the keyword “visa sponsored” on this platform as all the jobs listed here are already filtered and display only visa-sponsored jobs.
Just click on the relevant job, go through the details, and apply if the job criteria match your skillset and preference.
If you upload your CV to our CV analysis tool, you will also get detailed insights about various aspects of your profile including the CV score, the salary you can expect in Germany, personalized suggestions, and many more insights.
3. Company websites
This method takes a bit more effort than the above two mainly because you have to apply for jobs on individual company websites.
One thing to remember is that we want to restrict our applications to only those companies that sponsor visas.
To ease the search process, we have created a list of over 100 visa-sponsoring companies from Germany.
Gain access to the exclusive list of visa-sponsoring companies here.
You can use this list to look for job openings that are relevant to your skillset and field of expertise.
Make sure to keep an eye on the career pages of these companies regularly and apply as soon as you see a relevant job opening.
In Summary
I agree that it is hard to find a job in Germany, especially if you are an international candidate who is applying for jobs from outside of the EU.
Having said that, there are various tricks and optimizations that you can implement in your job search process that will help you improve your chances of finding a job in Germany.
One such optimization is to find visa-sponsoring companies and apply for their vacancies.
